Adolescents with anxiety disorders have significant worry about themselves and their interactions with daily life. Due to their intense distress, adolescents can experience behavioral urges that can decrease their discomfort however can cause long term negative consequences. Some of these behaviors can be avoidance, withdrawal, irritability, interpersonal conflict, among others. Evidence based treatment is the most efficacious treatment to date. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) is an evidence based treatment that has proven to help with anxious clients who identify with distressing emotions, especially fear and need to learn skills applicable to everyday life situations. The goal of this presentation is to understand the emotion of anxiety and provide healthy life skills that Adolescents can infuse into their everyday lives.
